started
playing guitar when she was four in 1964. She met
bluesman Sam Chatmon when she was a fourteen year
old surfer girl and immediately wanted to become a
200 year old blues queen. Her guitar playing
combines country blues, stride piano, classic jazz
and hillbilly boogie through the sensibility of an
autodidact trailor-park esthete. She has only
written a few songs but they're good ones. Her live
show is full of complex guitar grooves and sly humor
and she learned everything she knows about dressing
for the stage from drag queens.
