Another
Kerrville first-time performer and avowed
audiophile, De Lisle recorded The Graceful Ghost,
her newest release, in her living room, using every
piece of authentic equipment she could lay hands on.
“We wanted to convey the feeling of being out on
the porch making music,” she describes. “Growing
up, music was a big part of my family gatherings and
I wanted to capture that family atmosphere: sitting
around in a circle, candles burning, very loose,
just having fun. There’s something that happens
when you can see each other playing. You make eye
contact; watch each other’s hands, move to the
rhythm. That doesn’t happen when people do things
in separate rooms.” De Lisle is eager to release
The Graceful Ghost and continue sharing it with live
audiences. Nurturing the album through conception,
writing, artwork (and a marriage to Hammond!), she
is justifiably proud in the final album…and of her
continued growth as an artist.
