Former Kerrville campground favorite and main-stage performer Tom Burris returns to the Kerrville Stage again in 2005.

One thing that hasn't changed throughout Tom's career is his ability to stand before a crowd of people and bring them into his performance. The man projects an almost manic energy from the stage, and that's deliberate. "I can have a cold or the flu and arrive in Monroe, LA and there's 12 people and I won't just go through the motions. I still try to be entertained and it's not entertaining to me unless I get some energy back, so I put a lot out. Even in Monroe, Louisiana on a rainy Tuesday with the flu I would still try to put on a good show."

That desire to put on a good show, time after time, regardless of the circumstances reflects a remarkable energy and an uncompromising nature. The same attributes are what drive Tom to work long and hard to create such crafted songs. "It's fun to write songs and make them exactly what I want them to be. It's like somebody said about poetry: you spend 100 hours on a phrase so that it appears to be the product of a passing thought!" That somebody was William B. Yeats. And with Tom's music, it's easy to see what he means.
